Plastic PRN’s Expected to be in Short Supply

The market for buying plastic PRNs may be tighter this year than expected, according to reprocessor and exporter data published on letsrecycle.com.

Thomas Rickerby, senior market operator for the Environment Exchange (t2e) PRN trading platform pointed out that the material-specific target for plastics is one of the only business targets which, along with steel, rises this year - from 29 to 32% - and so performance would have to improve in the remaining quarters if businesses are to fulfil their obligations.

Along with an increase in demand, Letsrecycle.com reported that the number of companies accredited to issues PRN's has fallen by 14% year-on-year  (see letsrecycle.com story) increasing the severity of the situation. However, fully committed to sustainability, Duo are an accredited company who can issue PRN's. If your company has a plastic responsibility and has concerned about fulfilling your annual obligation please contact Duo.

Duo believes the process of recycling plastics is a sustainable and future proof plan for an on-going solution. At Duo we offer a closed loop recycling system which is the leading recycling technology available. Recycling polythene in this way is a real step on the road to sustainability and reduces the volume of polythene waste destined for landfill.
